International Relations

Narrowly defined, the discipline of International Relations (IR) is the academic field which studies the interactions between and among States. More broadly, IR is the study of the working of the International system as a whole including both States and Non-State Actors.

That IR is influenced by the interplay between continuity and change in its subject-matter means that it focuses on changing political, economic and cultural relations within the international system in the modern era.
